The Future of Irrelevant Matters

Published 8 months ago • 1 min read

Hey, my Dear Reader,

this newsletter has changed or rather evolved several times - the changes went hand in hand with my development as not only a writer but a creator in general.

It all started in 2020 when I created my first email list to support my writing journey and share some insights on writing, which didn't make much sense. Honestly, I did it because it was a great trend at the time to build a mailing list among writers. But I didn't know what I wanted to share.

The first major change was at the end of 2022 when I decided to create a publication on Medium - Irrelevant Matters, and decided to use this newsletter to share the best articles from the pub and short comments about the publication. But it didn’t last long - this form was not for me. I decided to focus on quietly editing the publication and writing, rather than commenting.

Managing and writing my own publication helped me grow as a writer more than anything else - writing without the help of editors and editing other people's articles was a huge challenge.

In the meantime, I also got tired of constant changes on platforms like Medium, and I decided it was time to build some independence and stability in publishing on my own. And sharing articles in a newsletter, not just online, is a great way to regain control - at least I can deliver my work to readers without waiting for some kind of algorithm approval.

After struggling for a while I finally found a proper solution and created my own website with a built-in newsletter: www.irrelevantmatters.com

From now on, I am a fully independent writer and can focus solely on writing without worrying about the latest changes on popular writing platforms.

Also, don’t get me wrong - I have nothing against Medium or Substack, CK, or any other page, and I’ll continue to write or repost some content there. But I don't want to rely solely on these platforms and want to create something of my own.

What does this change for email subscribers? Not much - the only change is actually the email address from which subscribers receive emails.

The rest remains the same for email subscribers. However, from now on, my articles will be primarily on my website.

I'm excited to start this new journey and I hope you'll stay with me!
